24MW GTR, Switzerland

Situated on a new business and industrial campus site that straddles two municipalities, RKD coordinated with an Architectural Design Committee acting on behalf of two local authorities to lodge the building permit application for this new 24MW data centre. Working closely with the client's delivery team, RKD led the design through permitting and on into construction, balancing the technical demands of a mission-critical facility with the planning sensitivities of a newly masterplanned campus setting. The building envelope was developed to respond to strict local design guidance, with a restrained material palette and carefully organised plant and service yards that allow the facility to operate efficiently while sitting quietly within its surroundings.
